About Me

I’m Kevin Severin, a writer, photographer and filmmaker from Garber, Oklahoma.

My love for storytelling began early. Growing up in a small town taught me to appreciate the people, places and moments that go unnoticed. Long before I understood the mechanics of writing or filmmaking, I was drawn to the feeling that a great story leaves behind.

That curiosity eventually led me to the University of Oklahoma, where I studied journalism and filmmaking and spent time exploring different ways to tell stories. I published pieces of writing, created more than ten short films and learned that whether a story is told through words or photographs, the goal was always to create something meaningful.

Over the years, my work has been recognized by publications including Sports Illustrated, The Palm Beach Post and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. While those moments have been rewarding, what continues to inspire me is the process itself.

Today, I live in Oklahoma and work in philanthropy, where I have the privilege of helping tell stories that make a difference in people's lives. It has reinforced a belief I carry into all of my creative work that stories matter.

When I’m not writing or behind a camera, you can usually find me exploring somewhere new, training for a race, playing basketball or tending to my peppers. I love to read, camp and experience live music whenever I can. I also play the bassoon and the saxophone. If you’re curious, my favorite artist is Lord Huron, and my favorite novel is Meant to Be by Emily Giffin.

My Story

Stories have always been my way of understanding the world and connecting with others, capturing the moments that reveal who we are. They remind us that every life has meaning, every voice matters and the small details of our hearts make life richer and more wondrous.
